Stepping Your Card Making Up a Notch

Hi There.  Today I wanted to show you two things; The first -Christmas Papers aren't just for Christmas! And the second - Easy ways to step your carding making up a notch.
Do you recognise these Papers? They're from the Christmas Paper Set 'Candlelight Christmas.'  These two cards started out because I wanted to use my Christmas Papers up, and you definitely wouldn't know they were intended for Christmas!
STEP YOUR CARD MAKING UP A NOTCH.
* Add Little Extras - The first card is a pretty card in itself but just by adding the Beautiful Wings Embosslits Butterfly's, as I've done with the card below, gives more visual interest and makes the card 'pop' as they say!
* Label Layering - Label Layering is a good way of showing off the main attractions and filling space on a card.
* Too much pattern is sometimes not a good thing - In these cards, the embossing of the labels works because it ties in with the pattern on the right hand side of the card and actually brings the whole card together.
* Balancing your card is really important - In both cards I've placed the label layering in two opposite corners to give balance, and in the second card, I have the butterflies flying in opposite directions on both sides of the card. That way, the card is balanced and it draws your eye all around the card.
* Pulling the whole card together - Adding the twine over the seam binding pulls both halves together instead of seeing two segmented sections. And in the second card, gives you visually one whole card instead of seeing four different sections, which would be, the two butterfly sections, and the two label sections.
Here's a list of the Stampin' Up! Products I used to create these two cards:
Rubber Stamps: Sincere Salutations
Card Stock: Chocolate Chip, Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla, Primrose Petals
Papers: Candlelight Christmas Specialty Papers
Accessories: Crumb Cake Seam Binding, Early Espresso Twine.
Tools: Big Shot, Labels Collection Framelits, Beautiful Wings Embosslits, Beautiful Butterflies Bigz Die, Fancy Fan Embossing Folder, Scallop and Large Oval.
Adhesives: Sticky Strip, Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
I hope I've helped stepping your card making up a notch and have given you inspiration to pull out your Christmas Papers and get creative with them! Until next time, thanks for stopping by, Angeliki :)

To get the aged look I went around the edges of the card stock with Crumb Cake Ink on a Sponge Dauber and then matted the edges up with my finger nail. 'The Open Sea' and 'Postage Due' Happy Birthday

Hi There. I thought whilst I was on Masculine Cards I'd post these two cards as well, and seeing as in my last post I used one of the same stamp sets, 'The Open Sea'.

I've used the same layout for each card but what a difference they create by changing up the stamp sets! Instead of using the one stamp set on each card, I've pulled elements from other stamps sets to combine them as this way I get much more use out of them instead of them sitting there a bit lonely and unused!

Travel Post Card:

Style Tips:
1.  Can you believe the Papers I've used in the first card are from Comfort Cafe Designer Series Papers! Traditionally a Floral Female set of papers on first look, but, voila! perfect for this Masculine Card - Try to look for ways that you can use your papers for more than they seem as this way you'll get more use out of them and less left over wondering what else to do with them - Good value for money that way!

2 Paper Stack Pads - I've used Festival of Prints (from the holiday mini) on my second card here and also in my last post. The newly available Paper Stack is in the Current Mini Catalogue called 'Print Poetry'. These are great value for money at only $11.95 and are very versatile as you get 48 Sheets in total with 4ach of 12 double-sided designs in one stack!! They're great for card fronts and mounting photos or anything else really! Larger Paper Stacks are available in the Current Annual Catalogue.

And lastly, thought I'd leave you with two cards using the FREE Stamp Set Feeling Sentimental. You can get this too for FREE!
How it works - Easy! For every $100 you spend during Stampin' Up!s Sale-a-Bration Promotion, you choose a FREE gift! To see more FREE Products, click on the Sale-a-Bration Catalogue picture to the left of this screen. Where else do you get a reward for spending money on products you love! Offer finishes 22 March.

The first card is Stampin' Up!s idea and the second is one I've created using the same idea but giving it a feminine twist with the Lace and a Faceted Button tied with a bow using Linen Thread.

Masculine Cards - The Open Sea Stamp Set

Hi There. Well it feels ages since I've Blogged - 3 weeks!!! - Due to my Internet provider cutting of my Security, Twice!!! And each time for duration of 5 days or more. But, I'm back to normal now, I hope!!

Often people ask me for Male Inspired card ideas because they're a bit harder to come up with than female cards, so here's two for you today using the Stamp Sets 'The Open Sea' and 'Curly Cute'

And here is the second Card.

 Style Tips:
1)  The corrugated sheet in the first card was made with a Crimper. If you don't have one just swap it with an Embossed sheet using the Stripes Embossing Folder to give the same effect.

2) I used Early Espresso Bakers Twine but because this is White and Early Espresso I ran a sponge dauber over it with Crumb Cake ink, which I just dabbed from my ink pad, to colour the white because my base is Very Vanilla. I adhered it with small dots of Multipurpose Liquid Glue using the Pen Tip end

3)  On both Cards I mounted the World Stamp up on Stampin' Dimensionals, then mounted the Boat up the same. I did the same with the Happy Birthday and Scallop Circle in the second card.

Here's a List of Stampin' Up! Products I used on Both Cards.

Rubber Stamps
The Open Sea
Curly Cute

Card Stock
Very Vanilla
Crumb Cake
Island Indigo

Papers
Festival of Prints Designer Series Paper Stack - from Holiday Cat' but very similar is Print Poetry Designer Series Paper Stack in the Current Mini.& there's actually papers in that set that Matches the stamps in the Open Sea Stamp Set - I will be purchasing this myself!

Accessories
Early Espresso Bakers Twine

Tools
Scallop Circle Punch
1 3/8" Circle
Paper Snips
Crimper or Stripes Embossing Folder

Adhesives
Stampin Dimensionals
Sticky Strip
Multi Purpose Liquid Glue

I hoped you've enjoyed today's cards and have been inspired to make some masculine cards.
Have a Great Day! Angeliki :)
